What are the TRUE costs of War?
Repubs Continue to LIE about who really cares about Veterans!!!
Sun Oct 08, 2006 at 10:37:23 AM PDT
Republican members of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars are at it again supporting a Republican Representative who has one of the
worst records voting for Veterans Benefits according to the Disabled
American Veterans.
Veterans Administration Knew Budget was off by BILLIONS!!!

On September 21st The Columbus Dispatch published the following article on the front page above the fold:
Tax cuts mean more than Veteran's lives
Sun Aug 20, 2006 at 04:58:09 PM PDT
If you believe this administration really "Supports Our Troops" you would think they would support Veterans of the "War on Terror."
They do - if it doesn't cost anything to "Support" them.
Does the Democratic Party Have any Values or Vision?
Sun Oct 02, 2005 at 02:31:19 PM PDT
Since the elections last year the
November 3rd Theses. written by
Adam Werbach has been one of the few things that have made it possible for me to hope that in my lifetime there maybe either a Democratic majority in either the House or Senate or a Democratic President. As the months have dragged on my optimism has waned.
Here we are almost one year later and NO one knows what the Democratic Party stands for.
In the 19 points of the Theses one theme runs throughout, the necessity for the Democratic Party to have a Vision and a set of Values and be able to communicate them to the American People.
Can/Should the cats be herded by God to the Dems?
Sun Sep 25, 2005 at 01:58:47 PM PDT
A friend who is a Democratic Party Official in a rather large Blue State recently told me, trying to get Democrats to work together is like herding cats. An example of this problem was pointed out in Kos' recent
Can I get an "Amen"?
The march on Washington showed the problem of Democrats not being able to go in the same direction.
GOP proposes military benefit cuts to offset Katrina costs
Wed Sep 21, 2005 at 05:38:27 PM PDT
Just to show us how much the GOP "Supports Our Troops" they are proposing cutting three "quality of life programs" that
at most would save 5.09 Billion over 10 years.
The offset list includes three provisions aimed at military quality-of-life programs:
Service members would be offered cash if they are willing to accept reduced health care benefits for their families.
The three separate military exchange systems could be consolidated.
The stateside system of elementary and secondary schools for military family members could be closed.
Here is the entire article from Navy Times.
This lets you know exactly what the GOP really thinks of the Troops!
The consequence of Norquist's tax plan
Wed Sep 07, 2005 at 08:36:31 PM PDT
Thomas L. Friedman's
Op-Ed Column in the September 7th edition of the New York Times really told the story of what this administration has done to this country. Especially what the neocons have done to a lot of people's opinion of taxes and government.
This opinion has been molded by Grover Norquist and the other neocons out to "starve the beast."
I decided to take Mr. Norquist's most famous quote and put it to pictures.
It is not pretty, and not for the faint of heart, but it is the consequence of following his plan.
Don't say I didn't warn you!
Grover's Quote.
Help Rumsfeld keep his farm!!!
Sat Sep 03, 2005 at 03:49:54 PM PDT
With Senator Frist planning to push for a vote on abolishing the estate tax Tuesday the following
Briefing from Rolling Stone shows how the estate tax truly does help the small farmer pass on his farm to his children.
Death Be Not Proud - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is vowing to permanently abolish the estate tax when the Senate returns in September. "The death tax," Frist declared, "is the cruelest and most unfair tax our government imposes." But he neglected to mention his personal stake in the vote: Ending the estate tax, which is paid almost entirely by the nation's richest 5% could boost his family's trust funds by $7 million. Nor is Frist, the only politician poised to profit. According to congressional estimates, cutting the estate tax would save President Bush and his cabinet as much as $344 million. The biggest winner Donald Rumsfeld, whose heirs could reap a windfall of $101 million.
Character does count?!

I was looking at the
Participating Vendors for Young Republicans National Convention Site to see if the Military was going to be there to recruit some young republicans.
I found only one branch of the Services will be there so far.
It is the Coast Guard.
More than likely the base at the Hamptons.
While I was there I found a link to 0cents.com and found the following stamp for sale. When I saw it I couldn't stop laughing.
Bush Twins Vow Support Of Military Recruitment Goal
Wed Jun 22, 2005 at 05:13:13 PM PDT
From the
"Washington Gazette"
Fair and Balanced Spin Inside the Beltway
By John F. Youmans author of
Not My Child"
As the Bush twins don their new camouflaged military uniforms, they have declared they will do everything possible to assist military recruiters reach their plummeting recruitment goals. "It's the least we can do," one of the twins said. "We believe in
Shared Sacrifice. It is the responsibility of everyone to support this war to defend our country from terrorists."

Take back July Fourth

I would like to propose that Memorial Day was the last "Patriotic" holiday that the shrub is allowed to be the only person talking about sacrifice in time of war.
Whining VETS to March on Washington DC
Tue Jun 07, 2005 at 06:20:26 PM PDT
I apologize for the title I gave my
Diary last Saturday.
After receiving a forwarded email from one of the organizers of the Million Vet March on Washington tomorrow, I stand corrected.
Below is the email received from a Retired Marine Corps Major after an organizer sent him an invitation to the March:
VETS march on Washington DC
Sat Jun 04, 2005 at 04:59:55 PM PDT
(From the diaries -- Plutonium Page. This is powerful stuff.)
This picture of a young Marine in a wheelchair saluting as the President's motorcade passed by has haunted me since it was forwarded to me by a fellow former Marine.

The Marine in the wheelchair does not realize that he is just starting one of the longest battles in his life. A battle many other veterans before him have had to fight and many have not won.
Accuracy in Media, Shared Sacrifice, Yellow Ribbons & Memorial Day
Sat May 28, 2005 at 08:17:39 AM PDT
If the American Public and Veterans truly believed in this war there would be no recruiting problem. They would be taking their sons and daughters down to the local recruiting station to sign up, but they are not.
If Cliff Kincaid and his friends believed in this war and were willing to pay for this war, there would be no problem with recruiting. All of their sons and daughters would be in Iraq right now. But, are they?
Maybe the "latest fad" that Mr. Kincaid should be worrying about is the one that says there is no need for shared sacrifice in time of war. You can only wave the flag so long without doing anything and expect the American People to follow.
Compassionate Conservatives in Ohio
Sun Feb 06, 2005 at 03:49:05 PM PDT
This weekend there were two Articles from the Columbus Dispatch that show the true moral values and priorities of compassionate conservatives in Ohio.
February 5,2005
POOR TO LOSE MEDICIAL AID
Taft administration hopes to save millions by ending program for neediest Ohioans
A medical program described as the final safety net for the poorest of Ohio's poor is being dismantled by Gov. Bob Taft's administration.
Disability Medical Assistance is a $73 million state-funded effort that provides health-care and prescription-drug coverage for Ohioans with chronic conditions, such as heart problems, diabetes or mental illness, who earn less than 33 percent of the federal poverty level -- no more than $115 a week for a single person.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services this week filed paperwork enabling Taft to sign an emergency order to essentially dissolve the program. As of March 1, people receiving benefits will be unable to be recertified. New enrollment ended Sept. 1.
The move would save an estimated $4 million in the fiscal year ending June 30, plus the full program cost in the next year.
