Competing Messages: Obama vs. Clinton (Update II)

Wed Aug 15, 2007 at 12:29:26 PM PDT

In the Atlantic Marc Ambinder (a pretty reliable source) breaks down the themes (obvious to most dkos people) that will decide who will win the nomination between Obama and Clinton. (This isn't to say Edwards won't win.)

My analysis below.

The Web Reviews are in on Obama's Counterterrorism Speech

Thu Aug 02, 2007 at 03:40:11 PM PDT

With few exceptions, such as Jerome Armstrong, the reviews of bloggers on Senator Obama's counterterrorism speech are very favorable. If you're an Obama supporter please forward along, if not, please consider these articles.

HRC's Resume vs. Obama's resume (updated)

Tue Jul 03, 2007 at 02:38:31 PM PDT

This was a long comment to another diary that I'm turning into a diary because I'm looking for some feedback.

The HRC camp wants the media to keep pushing the idea that Obama is all charisma and that HRC is all experience. What a dilemma for voters? Who do we choose!?!

See, below the fold.

Edwards Say he read the Nie, But He Didn't

Thu May 31, 2007 at 01:21:48 PM PDT

In california yesterday, John Edwards was asked directly whether he read the confidential full version of the NIE, he said that he did. But his campaign last week said he didn't, and now reiterates that he, in fact, didn't.

Obama's Foreign Policy Vision

Mon Apr 23, 2007 at 09:58:00 AM PDT

Senator Obama just gave a speech at the Chicago Counsel on Foreign Affairs.

The speech is billed as outlining Obama's foreign policy vision. It purposefully deals only breifly with Iraq and rather turns to America's larger foreign policy concerns going forward (which Obama acknowledges can be resolved only after ending the War in Iraq.)

a link to the speech and some excerpts below the fold.

Obama no to Imus; Edwards let's see

Wed Apr 11, 2007 at 02:31:41 PM PDT

I just want to give this an airing because I suspect otherwise it will not be discussed.

Barack Obama issued a statement that he would fire imus, and will not appear.

Hillary has said she will not appear.

John edwards is taking a wait and see approach.

David Sirota Unfairly Attacks Obama

Tue Apr 03, 2007 at 02:02:34 PM PDT

David Sirota in both the huffingtonpost and at Mydd.com links to an article he says supports his claims that Obama has been nuanced on his pre-iraq war vote.

Obama on Iraq: Then and Now

Tue Mar 20, 2007 at 11:19:21 AM PDT

Recently, questions have been raised about whether Senator Obama has been consistent on his positions on the war. Below you will find some of the common critiques leveled at Senator Obama, the sources of those critiques, and the Senator's responses.

Although I am a supporter of Senator Obama's, I view this diary as an objective account of the Senator's statements.

Obama on Ed Schultz, on Defunding the War, Race, Clinton, and the Bears

Fri Mar 02, 2007 at 07:57:07 AM PDT

I just noticed that Senator Obama was interviewed by Ed Schultz yesterday. As always, Ed does a good job asking important questions.  In this interview, he asks Senator Obama about his views on defunding the war, his trip to Selma and issues of race, the Geffen comments, and, on a lighter note, the Bears' Super Bowl loss.

Rolling Stone on Obama

Good article on Obama in the Rolling Stone.

The highlight:

Obama may use Public Financing for the General Election

Wed Feb 07, 2007 at 03:00:22 PM PDT

In short, Obama asked the FEC whether he could give back the funds he raises for the general if his GOP opponent agrees to also adhere to public financing. Below, I have included the letter Obama sent to the FEC.

I was wondering what people's thoughts are on this move by Obama. I think it is pretty clever and certainly could be used to his advantage (or any Dem nominee) if the GOP nominee refuses.

The scoop from politico.com below.

Congress Can't Cut Funds Just For the Escalation

Thu Feb 01, 2007 at 03:49:54 PM PDT

Some candidates, and the media in general, are confused about what options we have in Iraq, in pareticular our options for funding Bush's escalation.

An Article on Obama from 1995 that Sheds Light on His Beliefs

Wed Jan 31, 2007 at 10:05:42 AM PDT

I found this fascinating. It is from 1995 when Obama was first running for an Illinois state senate seat.

http://www.chicagoreader.com/...

The most important aspect of it for the netroots community is how much Obama believes in organizing the grass roots. I would argue that he hasn't changed much in his approach. After yesterday's Iraq bill, his fox freeze out, and now this, he's getting closer to securing my vote.
